Danza Cuauhtemoc Baldwin Park
Danza Cuauhtemoc Baldwin Park is a community-based Aztec dance class subordinate to our main class, DANZA CUAUHTEMOC CENTRAL. We are committed to maintaining the tradition of ceremonial Aztec/Mexica dances. These dances not only preserve teachings and philosophy of the ancient peoples of Mexico but reaffirm a commitment to cultural/political resistance and spiritual independence deeply rooted in Mexican history.
Practiced in secrecy since Spanish colonization, these dances have made a revival and reappearance in the last 60 years, making their way to the United States in the 1960's. Many groups now practice this tradition throughout the Southwest and into other areas of the country.
Danza Cuauhtemoc Baldwin Park was founded in 1995
